Mount Rundle was almost always an
inspirational sight first thing in the morning. |
Even more enjoyable was the one minute walk for coffee to Mr. Horton's here, or one of the other quaint and character filled coffee shops nearby. |

Each week, gifted teachers, pastors and Christian leaders came from across Canada to
lay out a "feast of thought and challenge".
Gordon Matties from Concord College(above) and Michael Farris (above right) were amoung
the earliest to challenge students.

Randy Friesen from Youth Mission Internatioal told some of
the stories of his early shaping as a young Christian. While his time
with us was quite moving, one of the more interesting comments overheard from a student
was "I want my bible to look like his"... which a person could
achieve by regularly throwing it out of moving vehicles, or,... reading
it. Randy's time with us left us supecting the latter.

Students keep a written journal of their thoughts, studies and experiences. While the School of Discpleship does not use a formalized testing process, students are here because they are hungry for spiritual challenge and adventure. |

| Late one evening in a weak moment, someone bending over the pool (fully clothed) was somehow "bumped". Well, young people being young people, one thing leading to another, soon students were dragging each other out of the halls and ... suffice it to say that this is probably the first Bible College to have to endure a full three day suspension of their pool and hot tub privileges! Our hearts bleed. |

| Trips to Vancouver and to locations throughout southwestern Alberta gave opportunity for great times in the vans. Friendships grew, students got an eyefull of some of the most beautifull scenery in the world, and, as you can see here, things sometimes went well beyond the "Are we there yet?" stage. |

As you can see, by the end of our first semester we had pretty much molded
students into a very serious, sober, and thoughtfull group. We found that with good and carefull leadership, we could keep them this way for ...oh perhaps 3 or even 4 minutes at a time. |

Yohannes Reimer (left) and Craig Ginn (below) brought passion and creativity to their time with us, and both in their own way helped prepare us for the cross cultural experience to come in Guatemala. |

We ended our first three months with a
steak supper followed by a worship service and communion. |
