Sun.- attended a local church in Soweto, then the church gave us a ‘braai’
(BBQ) for lunch
Mon- tour of Soweto…Freedom Charter monument, Hector Peiterson
Museum, Regina Mundi church
Tues- Tour of Kliptown… demonstration of gumboot dancing, drumming and
a presentation of a musical about Kliptown by local children. Painted
at the church for the afternoon
Wed- Work Day…gardening at an AIDs hospice, visiting AIDs patients and
painting classrooms at a local school
Thurs-Lecture at the University of Pretoria on the Truth and Reconciliation
Commission
Fri.- Work Day…visited two school assemblies, a crèche (day care), a home
for handicapped children, then finished painting at the church
Sat.- Spent the day at Gold Reef City Amusement Park in Jo’burg,
People from the community centre where we were staying threw us a
‘Jazz Braai’ for supper
