YMCA – Letter to Site One

Dear Site One,

Once upon a time, 31 students and 4 leaders embarked on an adventure. Between herds of dancing elk, midnight snowball raids, one giant snowball/tractor wheel, living in a “shoebox”, an abandoned cabin with no heat, a mouse-infested dorm, some intense spiritual warfare, group showers (lots of fun!), 2 washing machines, hardcore cleaning, smoke attacks from the fire, Outtatown Idol, 5 dead mice in the mouse traps, intense OC watching, MANY heated community meetings, popcorn parties, poisoned cake, the mystery of Chief Hector, bleach tasting meals, mail arrivals, no TP (or any other supplies for that matter), super mountain climbing, spastic lights, mattress floatillas, slumber parties, small group sundaes, late night Starbucks runs (ha ha), Two Moose runs, shooting stars, many Canmore trips, Halloween roller skating parties, the Mustard Seed, Calgary trips, and a partridge in a pear tree – we actually did get some class time with the amazing John, Gareth, and Brian. Have a great three weeks.

                                                                                Love Site 2

NOTE: This was a letter that was written after our stay at the Rocky Mountain YMCA. As you can see, there were some good times had. The sleeping situation was slightly challenging at times but we forged through it and we made it! It was an experience that none of us will forget!

Hockey Game
By Ben Neufeld

Being from Winnipeg I never get to see NHL hockey. I had not seen a game since the Jets were around. After the Jets left, the Edmonton Oilers became my favorite team and I always wanted to watch an Oilers game. When we were staying at the YMCA the Oilers were playing the Flames in Calgary. If you are a hockey fan it doesn’t get much better than that. The atmosphere at the game was amazing. The Flames won 3-1 and it was an experience that I will never forget.
