Adventures in Changing

By Jenette Martens

Our unfortunate event took place while we were staying at Rundle Mountain Lodge in Canmore. Four other girls and I decided to go relax in the hot tub. We each grabbed out bathing suits from our rooms and blithely headed down to the pool area. Much to our dismay, we discovered there was no changing area by the pool. The lack of proper facilities didn’t faze us for long however because there was a large empty laundry room just down the hall. Leaving one of our number to guard the door, the remaining four each chose a corner and proceeded to change into our bathing suits. We were about half changed when someone slowly read aloud the large plaque displayed obviously in the middle of the wall.

“This area is monitored by 24 hour video surveillance.”

Horrified we turned to the corner where we saw a video camera brazenly recording everything we did. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a group of girls dress so quickly. Red faced, laughing and more than a little embarrassed we collected our scattered clothing and nearly ran for the door. So a word to the wise, if you’re going to change in an empty laundry room because you are too lazy to go all the was back to your hotel room, do a thorough check for security cameras first. Believe me, it’s worth the effort.
