Monterrico...
For a break from our strenuous Spanish classes, we headed to Monterrico for a relaxing weekend on the beach. As we descended from the high altitude of Antigua, the heat made us stick to the seats of the little wooden boat that carried us there. The black sand was enough to give us third degree burns all over our feet, and we mastered the art of running on tippy toe from one place to another, only stopping to sit down in a pile of agony, clenching our feet and moaning. Aside from that minor detail, the beach was beautiful, we had some great games of beach volleyball and slurped back some fantastic licuados. Besides, who doesn't love jumping in the waves of the ocean?
