One of the first outings we had in Chiang Mai was going to Wat Doi Suthep. This is one of the biggest
temples in Thailand. It is definately the most well known of them all. The temple compound was HUGE.
It sported lots of gold (and gold painted concrete). The architecture was incredible. As well the view of
Chiang mai was gorgeous. Sorry there are so few pics...there will be more coming.

A band of school children who are supposed to be playing music. Bu i guess they got tired
of no one giving them money so they stopped.

A magnificant view of 1/4 of Chiang Mai from the Wat.
(Wat means Temple...theres a little Thai language lesson for you!)
The first set of statues once you walk up to the temple. Lots of gold.
Gate that covers the entrance and exit of the temple. Again...lots of gold
a fuzzy pic of two lions that guard the entrance to the temple

a golden statue in the interior of the temple. Gold again. (either that orits painted concret)
hmmmm......

20 monks hoppin out of their cargo truck.

Some of the monks that live at the temple and some of the monks that travel to it everyday
Pauline in one of the many vibrant gardens of the temple

a marble statue in the interior of the temple

a look at the compound where the monks stay.
