Stellenbosch

We had to say goodbye to the ocean for a week as we headed more inland to the wine country, Stellenbosch. Our rest was found at the Backpackers Inn, right in the heart beat of the city, which was nice for close and cheep e-mail facilities. Our days were divided between two places of volunteer work in the morning, a jouvinal detention centre and a rehabilitaion centre for many refugees and homeless. Then in the afternoon we had times of learning with insparational speakers. Of course our week would not be complete without a tour of the raved about wineries...we found out that wine can have meaty wiffs...everything has meat in South Africa. The Thursday evening would have to be the biggest highlight of the week. We helped fund a small township church in Kayamandi in putting grass on their yard and paint the inside of their church. The night of volunteer work was optional for us, those who went were blessed by the unity that was felt as we worked together.
