Outtatown lands in Burkina Faso!!!

Our group of Site 4 students continue to make Outtatown history as they travel to places the program has never been before.  We just got word that they have arrived in Burkina Faso and have enjoyed their first Burkinabe meal (apparently it was really good).

In other incredible news from Sites 1-3: Site 2 just completed their Vancouver Urban Plunge and early reports say it was a stretching, sometimes uncomfortable and very worthwhile experience for them.  Site 3 is journeying to Vancouver to begin their Urban Plunge after just finishing their time in Alberta with Terry LeBlanc as their instructor, which we’ve already been hearing some excellent reviews.    And Site 1 is getting ready to head to Seattle after recently experiencing tours of tunnels, a day of silence, and some instruction days with Brad Fuller and Steve Klassen.

This travel update brought to you by your friendly Outtatown office!

Great Night at MUD Café

Yesterday (Sunday Oct 2) – sites 1,2 and 3 were all on CMU campus for the afternoon and evening.  It was fantastic to see them and be able to hear some positive updates as to how things are going so far.  After surviving the cold and wind of the canoe trip, there have been many great urban plunge experiences, stories of fun times as a group, many hours in the vans, and quality times with instructors.  The afternoon on Sunday for the students consisted of a tour of the CMU campus for those that were interested, so that they could hear more about the University campus and what may be a great option for them after they have completed their Outtatown experience.  In the evening the students participated in the MUD cafe (Missions Under Discussion), hosted at CMU and put on by Carol Letkemen and Lisa Derksen with MB Missions.  Kent Dueck from Inner City Youth Alive was the speaker and Jamie Niven was the worship leader for the evening.   One of my highlights of the day was an opportunity to connect with the site leaders – we shared prayer requests, praise items, and just had a chance to spend a bit of time together with the leaders from these 3 sites.  God is definitely at work in their lives, and the stories they shared of the lives of their students.  I was once again encouraged by their love for their students, and their excitement in the journey that God is inviting them on. After the evening activites the sites once again took off, sites 2 & 3 back to their camp locations for the week, and site 1 to their urban plunge experience in Winnipeg.
