About Us

Josh & Randi Dookhie

Since being born and raised in Winkler, MB (though you wouldn’t know it to look at him) Josh has been itching to get out and experience everything that God and his wonderful world have to offer that laid beyond the endless familiar farmers fields surrounding his small town childhood. After high school, in order to quench his thirst for God, travel, and global learning, Josh became a student on the Outtatown, Thailand program. Still hungry for more he enrolled once more in the Outtatown program, this time heading off to South Africa. Having a strong connection to Outtatown, He has since been preparing and praying for the opportunity to serve the Outtatown program, (obtaining a degree from CMU in International development and continuing to travel as much as possible) and is thrilled to finally have the opportunity to lead the Outtatown, South Africa site along side his most wonderful wife, Randi.

Randi hales from Winnipeg, MB. Also suffering from the travel itch she became an exchange student in high school to Mexico. This trip however only intensified her travel obsession (sadly an incurable disease).

After High School, she too became a student on the Outtatown program, on a Guatemala site, the same year that Josh did South Africa. They met. Sparks Flew. He was in awe of her awesomeness. She also attended CMU, majoring in Social Sciences with a concentration in communications. During this time the couple started dating, a few months later became engaged, and then a few more months later were wed. Since then they haven’t stopped traveling. Spending time in Guatemala and Hawaii, and then, the day after graduation they moved to Bangkok, Thailand, where they taught English and traveled around South East Asia. After the year was done they continued to travel throughout Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji until they finally landed back on Canadian soil.

Jesse & Gypsi Town

Gypsi and Jesse have come from opposite sides of the world. Jesse grew up in Japan, and Gypsi in Ontario and East Africa. They met at university in British Columbia.

Jesse is what some people call an egg; white(Caucasian) on the outside, yellow (Japanese) in the middle. This explains his odd use of English phrases, euphemisms and general eccentricities. He loves any activity that involves people; this often includes sports like soccer and tennis but carries over to board games and playing music with friends. He loves friendship; often when he goes on an errand he comes back with a new friendship. Jesse loves discovering God in just about anything he engages in, whether its campfire conversations or standing on top of a mountain.

Gypsi lives up to her name. If she could have a super power it would be the ability to speak any language in the world. She loves traveling to new places and getting involved in the community. She moves through life looking for ways to help people.  If there is an opportunity to play or make up a game in the process she’s the first to suggest it. When hanging out with friends tea or ice-cream are often involved.

Together Jesse and Gypsi are a couple hard to keep track of. Since they graduated University they have lived in Ethiopia, Ontario, Korea, Japan and Hawaii. Their latest adventure was helping with the earthquake/tsunami disaster in Japan. They live life with open hands for God to use.

They are thrilled to be Outtatown Leaders as Outtatown has been on their heart for a few years. They are confident that this year will be full of challenges and growth mixed with laughter and adventure.
