Cam Priebe

Director

As the Director of the Outtatown Discipleship School, Cam is excited about the opportunities that the program creates in order to encourage young adults to experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ, and to discover God’s calling on their lives. Cam grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan called Hepburn.  He is married to Shauna, and they have three kids: Tyson who‘s in high school, and Megan and Madison who are in elementary school years, all of whom he loves like crazy.  Cam graduated from Providence College with a B.A. in Youth Ministry, desiring to assist young people in seeking and finding Jesus as they discover who they are in Christ.  He later went on to study at Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary and graduated with a Masters of Arts in Christian Ministries.

From being the director at a Christian camp to working in student life at Bethany College, Cam has had many roles and experiences that have prepared him well for working with young adults and leaders in order to assist them in discovering more about God, the world, and themselves.  These roles have included coaching sports teams, being a church youth group sponsor, being the Director of Ministry Quest: a leadership development and mentoring program for churches, and having a position with the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches that focused on leadership development.

Some of Cam’s favorite things to do include enjoying a cup of coffee and great conversation with a friend; white water rafting with his wife (although that’s only been done once, it was just that good it made the favorites list); playing/ watching/ coaching sports, especially basketball; camping at the ocean with his family; and coaching and mentoring people to discover more of who God has created them to be.

Cam is committed to loving and following Jesus, and has a desire to provide safe relationships for people to journey to find their identity, calling, and purpose in Christ.  He loves creating the space and the opportunity for people to notice God at work within them and the people and world around them.    His favorite passage of scripture is Ephesians 3, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” “The goal of teaching, the goal of discipleship, and the goal of studying well is to know the love of Christ, and that others may know and experience it as well.”

 

Stephen Plett

Program Manager

Having experienced many life-giving moments as a student on Outtatown in 2001-02, Stephen has been grateful for the opportunity in recent years to give back in the form of leadership, serving as a site leader, country partner, and now as a program manager. Stephen has enjoyed this support role in its various tasks, especially valuing time out of the office connecting with leaders and students in some of the world’s most beautiful places where Outtatown visits. He finds that discussing real faith issues with friends over coffee or around a campfire, can be as good to the soul as a mouth-watering steak is to his taste buds!

Prior to this current assignment, Stephen fulfilled his aims to ‘backpack’ Europe and gain some work skills at framing houses. He has also obtained a history degree from Brock University, near his hometown of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Fascinated with areas of study surrounding exploration and discovery, naturally Stephen loves to travel and experience things first hand, as well as to read about the events which have shaped the world in which we live in.

Other interests include sports, photography, aviation and cinema. His real passion is to see people come alive to the full life God has intended; and he sees the adventure, service, and faith community of the Outtatown Discipleship School as valuable building blocks.

 

Deanna Loeppky

Program Manager

Deanna is thrilled to be working with Outtatown again! She was an Outtatown student in 2000/2001 and had such a fantastic experience that she decided work in the Outtatown office while completing her degree at CMU. After a couple years away that included working at a very cool eco stationery company, anthropology studies, volunteering with her church’s youth program and traveling to Indonesia, she just couldn’t resist coming back to work in the Outtatown office again.

Deanna grew up in a small Manitoba town, but enjoys traveling and exploring God’s creation. She also loves a good cup of tea with friends, finishing a home reno project and then dreaming of the next one, puzzles, reading cookbooks, but then often forgeting to try the recipes in her own kitchen and is thrilled to have the Jets back in Winnipeg!

She is very excited to be back with Outtatown and involved with booking flights, making schedules (those are just complex puzzles after all!) and bringing her administrative gifts and love for people to the role of Program Manager, to ensure that all future students also enjoy their Outtatown experience.

Stefanie Heide

Program Assistant

Stefanie Heide is “muy contenta” to be working with Outtatown at the same time as she pursues a Social Science BA, with a Concentration in Intercultural Studies, at CMU. While just 5 years ago she probably wouldn’t have fancied herself to be much of an office type, neither would she then have guessed that she would be one to throw herself off a 216 meter bridge, ride a Gospel Train, or play with baby lions, all in South Africa no less!
Originally hailing from small-town Aylmer, ON (a place which she thinks is the bee’s knees), Stefanie did all of the above during her year on Site 3 South Africa in 06/07. During that year, she grew to love her site members like family, was challenged in her perspectives of the world, and began engaging with her faith like she had never done before. She finds it very “Lekker!” to now be part of the team that helps make Outtatown happen and to continually see God at work in the lives of all those involved with this program.

When not engaging obstinate office equipment in battle, Stefanie can be found enjoying the great outdoors, playing inventor in the kitchen, or tickling some ivories. A good day for Stef would involve a nice cuppa tea and an episode of The Office (American version), a friendly conversation concerning dinosaurs, and a trip to Mexico with her familia and a lawn gnome. Her favourite invention is the bicycle, followed in close second by that impervious clog, the rubber boot.
